Know, Do, Sustain: The Power of a Resilient Mindset

Our success in building life-long health and wellness is most often less about the reps, sets, macro and calorie targets and more often about building a resilient mindset. Whether you are striving for healthy weight loss, building strength, or optimizing your metabolic wellness, the way you think can significantly influence your success.

Building a Resilient Mindset:

A resilient mindset does not happen overnight – it is built over time through consistent practice and intentional effort.

Embracing Challenge: Developing resilience begins with embracing challenge and seeing obstacles as opportunities for growth. Too often we seek quick results with little effort, we fear changes that will push us out of our routine and comfort zone. By actively taking on a mindset of excitement for the challenges that will grow us and propel us towards our goals we develop our resilience and move closer to our goals.

Persistence is Key: Whether it is consistently prioritizing a routine sleep schedule, maintaining consistency with your workout regime, or aiming for daily nutritional targets, persistence is the key. When progress seems slow, when life gets busy, when it feels easier to just take a break, a resilient mindset reminds us to keep going, to pick back up at the very next step, and to seek rewards that are found in our long-terms goals.

Learning from Feedback: A resilient mindset allows us to not only receive feedback but actively seek it and apply it. This process lets us step back from our routine habits, evaluate what is working and what isn’t, making necessary adjustments for continued growth. While developing our skills in receiving feedback, having an objective partner can be helpful to guide the process. A resilient mindset seeks out better strategies and practices in pursuit of their goals.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Sometimes, what works for one person may not work for another and what worked for us at one point in our life does not work now. Being open to change and new experiences is an essential component of a resilient mindset. Adaptability and flexibility allows you make adjustments to strategies and goals in response to new experiences and information. Being open to new ideas and perspectives when faced with challenges and setback is often what sustains our efforts towards our goals.

Sustaining a Resilient Mindset:

Maintaining a healthy mindset over time requires consistent effort and we are sure to be challenged as the initial excitement of a new goal fades or when faced with setbacks. Here are a few tips to help sustain a resilient mindset.

Reconnect with Your Why: Regularly remind yourself of the root behind your health and wellness goals. Take time to understand the deeper motivation and reignite your commitment.

Track Your Progress: Keep a journal or use a tracking app to monitor your progress. Seeing the progress of how far you have come can renew your sense of accomplishment and reinforce your dedication o your goal.

Adjust Goals When Necessary: It is okay and, at times, necessary to reassess and make adjustments to goals. The simple pursuit of progress towards our goals can and will change us. Take time to evaluate if where you are going still aligns with your values and priorities.

Work with a Coach: Don’t hesitate to reach out for support when you need it. Engaging with a coach for accountability, feedback, reassurance and supportive guidance can make a significant difference in maintaining a resilient mindset.

By embracing a resilient mindset, adopting daily habits and healthy routines that support positive thinking you can optimize your potential and achieve life-long success. Let your mindset be the most powerful tool in achieving your goals.
